Phillips County Kids Thrive
The Phillips County Community Foundation has established a new fund called Phillips County Kids Thrive. The purpose of this fund is to provide items needed for the success and growth of the area’s children who often fall into the cracks of society. Whether it be lack of money to pay for school supply needs (i.e. iPad rental fees, supplies for wood shop, home economics, art or music, lunch or breakfast fees), the need for a hygiene pack, a warm coat or socks, or even food to take home for a weekend - the goal of this fund is to help students survive who are struggling through no fault of their own.
Anonymity is key to the success of this project fund. It is not the intention to embarrass or offend any person or family. It is to provide help only when help is needed, and to do it in a non-offensive way.
PCCF committed $5,000 to launch the fund. Additional contributions include $1,500 from the Phillipsburg Rotary Club, a generous $5,000 gift from an anonymous donor and over $10,000 from several community members and businesses. Several other donors have expressed interest in contributing. It is our goal to raise enough money to make this an endowed fund that will continue to grow and serve the needs of our community far into the future
PCCF is working with the Ministerial Alliance and the administration at each of the schools in Phillips County to assist with these needs as they arise. Teachers often carry the burden of knowing when a student needs assistance, so we are sharing this information with every teacher in Phillips County School systems. Request forms will be available on our website and in each school building office. As soon as request forms are submitted, they will be sent to the Kids Thrive Fund Board for approval to ensure that the turn-around is quick. Payments in a Field of Interest Fund such as the Kids Thrive Fund can only be paid to a non-profit, educational or governmental agency.
